A Brief History Of Cakes
The ancient Egyptians were the world’s first great bakers, with large-scale bakeries that produced unleavened breads and cakes, first baked on hot stones. They were the first to discover how to use wild (natural) yeast to make those flatbreads and cakes rise. Cakes are round because they descended from ancient breads—round loaves of dough placed on hearthstones to bake.
It took another few millennia, until the 18th century, to discover the technique of whipping eggs to make cakes rise. While it required many hours of beating, it heralded the dawn of modern baking. By the 1840s, baking soda had been invented, followed by baking powder in the 1860s. As ovens with regulated temperatures became available, and sugar became affordable to everyone, more people were able to bake, resulting in more creativity in recipe development; the modern cake as we know it began to take shape in the mid-19th century.
Even though sugar originated in Asia, cakes as we now know them—flour, eggs, butter and sugar baked to a sweet, fluffy deliciousness—are a Western evolution. There are thousands of different types of cakes in the world today; each culture has its specialties, most of which never reach our shores.

Definition
of cake/How to preserve
your cake : An item of soft, sweet food made from a mixture of flour,
shortening, eggs, sugar, and other ingredients, baked and often decorated.
So
all those ingredients have a limited life span and easy to spoil if is
not well preserved.
Whether
you’re simply saving your cake to serve later in the day or you’re saving the
leftovers for tomorrow, storing it right will keep it fresh, tasty, and looking
good .
When
you order for a cake you know it going to be decorated and not all decoration
can be preserved. When preserving a cake which have a limited life sperm like:
sponge, red velvet, chocolate, you can preserve it by putting it inside
refrigerator and not leaving it inside a room temperature not matter how much
air conditional you have in there.
Don’t
just keep cake in a fridge without covering it or rapping it well either wet
cling film or foil paper.if the cake is in butter icing or butter cream,
chocolate dripping, coconut sprinkle, cover it well while in the fridge.
But
if it is fondant, kindly remove d fondant and place only the cake inside
fridge. Note fondant cake can’t be put in a fridge.Example of my client who
orders for cake and refuse to put it in fridge because the cake is fine
and it was cover wit fondant which u can put in the freezer
if
you have an idea on how to preserve a cake, please kindly comment
